Christmas Stocking Stuffers for Little Ones and Mom

Little Gifts To Tuck In Every Stocking

The best stocking gifts are small enough to tuck in and fun enough to keep little hands busy long after Christmas morning. These are the little things I'd choose for a toddler, two useful ones for a baby's first stocking, and a few small comforts for Mom.

Melissa & Doug Wooden Construction Site Vehicles

My grandson plays with his little Melissa & Doug wooden trucks every single morning, and his dad runs a real digger, so construction vehicles are a favourite in their house. This set has seven of them, each about four inches long, with moving parts that small hands love to work, and they all tuck into their own wooden tray at the end of the day.

A steam roller, cement mixer, forklift, dump truck, front loader, crane and backhoe, with a wooden storage tray.

Melissa & Doug Water Wow! Safari

My daughter chose this one for my grandson. You paint with nothing but water, the safari animals appear in colour, and when the page dries they fade away so you can paint them all over again. There's no paint and nothing to clean up, and I love that it puts a pen in little hands early, because some skills never go out of date.

A refillable water pen and reusable safari pages, slim enough to slip into a stocking.

Melissa & Doug Winnie the Pooh Hand Puppets

I love puppets because the conversation starts with you. You give Pooh a voice, and little by little a child begins to answer through him. As children grow, they sometimes tell a puppet what's hard to say out loud. Pooh is the only show my grandson watches, so these were an easy choice.

Four soft Winnie the Pooh hand puppets, roomy enough for a grown-up's hand too.

Micro Teenies Winnie the Pooh and Pals 6 Pack

When I was a girl, I treasured my little set of Jungle Book figures. Tiny friends that fit in one hand become part of every story a child makes up. This set brings the whole Hundred Acre Wood to a little one the same way. Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit and Roo are each about three inches tall and soft as can be, and there's a sleepy Pooh in his pajamas for bedtime.

Six soft three-inch friends, small enough to carry in one hand, in their own storybook box.

    Stuart Little by E.B. White

I read E.B. White aloud to my children long before they could read on their own, and I still think he's one of the finest writers there ever was. Stuart Little is a gentle adventure to share a chapter at a time, and the paperback slips easily into a stocking.

The 75th anniversary paperback, with Garth Williams's original drawings.

Just Grandma, Grandpa, and Me by Mercer Mayer

Any excuse for a day with just my grandson and me is a good one, and this little book is about exactly that. Little Critter spends a whole day with his grandparents, and reading it together is a sweet way to remind a little one of the people who love him, even from far away.

A Little Critter paperback, small enough for any stocking.

    Green Sprouts Silicone Molar Teether

When my grandson was cutting his molars, he chewed on anything he could reach. This teether is shaped to reach the back of a little mouth where the molars come in, and its soft textures soothe sore gums. It's small enough to tuck into a baby's first stocking.

Soft silicone with a multi-textured head that reaches the back molars.

    Mushie Silicone Snack Cup

My grandson eats with his hands and picks up blueberries one at a time, almost every day. A snack cup like this lets a little one help himself, because the soft opening lets small fingers slip in and keeps the snacks from spilling when it tips.

Soft silicone with two little handles for an easy grip.

    Collective Home Monogram Ring Dish

So many women take their rings off in the last months of carrying a baby and in the first weeks after, and those rings need somewhere safe to rest. This little ceramic dish carries her own initial in gold, and it arrives in a gift box. It's small and sweet, and she'll use it every single day.

Glossy ceramic with a gold initial, 4.75 inches across, in a black gift box.

    Juclise Baby Alpaca Wool Socks

I've wanted alpaca for years because it does everything a wool sock does, with a softness wool never had and no itch at all. It's warm without being heavy, so her feet stay cozy on a cold floor at three in the morning, and the little alpacas make them a happy thing to pull on.

62% baby alpaca, with merino to help them keep their shape.

    Swarovski 2026 Annual Edition Ornament

My sister gives each of her grandchildren the Swarovski snowflake from the year they were born. She keeps them together at her house, and one day each one will be handed down. I love it so much that I'm starting the same tradition with my own grandchildren. For a new mom, the snowflake from her baby's first Christmas is the beginning of that kind of keepsake.
